You probably have, like many of us, started previous years with some kind of “New Year’s Resolution”. If you too have experienced the corresponding disappointment. What about trying something new for 2018?
Doing your Ph.D, writing a book, building a business on the side or just pursuing any kind of wish, dream or goal, you have quite an extensive set of jobs: you have to motivate yourself, keep the overview, manage your energy, make decisions and do the tough work. I get exhausted just thinking about it. Often, we get stuck at at least one of those aspects or stuck overall. Are you tired of having to do the working and the management at the same time? Of working alone and relying on yourself to stay motivated _while_ you do difficult work? Well, let me take over the time- and self-management part for you for a moment so that it is easier to concentrate and advance. I will guide you step by step to get you started and remind you when to stop and take breaks. Experience a couple of hours of true focus and what a difference it can make to your project.
This is not the kind of hyper-motivated “in 2018 everything will be different” approach. That just doesn’t work. Also not the fuzzy “I am going to be more disciplined” version. Yeah right. Here it is about something very concrete: signing up you are reserving a well-defined time slot in your calendar, committing to it, and reserving the support you need to make a dent in your project. Afterwards you feel good: You got started! On the way you learn something about yourself and about time-management. This is not just thinking and talking about how you work only, but also down-to-Earth working with an experienced guide. A bit like a mental spa… while you get work done.
What am I talking about? I am announcing three “Practical Time-Management Sessions” for January 2018, just in time to help you get your year started. Two of them will be in English, one in German.
So, what is a Practical Time-Management Session?
It is a 2-hour virtual session (over the internet) with a maximum of 7 participants, in which you will:
Are Practical Time-Management Sessions something for me?
They are designed for people in the kind of job or situation where motivating yourself, staying on track and fighting doubts is part of your routine. Ph.D students and researchers in general, freelancers, writers, and anyone with a long-term personal project who needs structure and support.
How can you be so sure that you can help me?
This is what former participants say themselves:
This was an awesome workshop. Exactly what I need. Your insight on overcoming my procrastination is helpful. I could not imagine that a task I put off for 6 months now is up and going. I understand the power of online co-working now. Thank you for this opportunity.
I was so happy I managed to get through my mental block regarding starting my paper. I enjoyed the company and it kept me on track when I was getting tired.
We have just finished the session! Highly recommended – you will learn a lot about your working habits and how to improve them 😉 Plus no procrastination for two hours.
This practical session with María Machón finally shows you exactly how writing down your task, identifying the required sub-steps and putting on your timer all work together. There is time for reflection and questions – and I got my report written in very pleasant company, so it’s not all theory. Thanks!
When? How much? How do I sign up?
The cost: 23 € for one session, to be paid in advance per transfer to my bank account or via PayPal.
To sign up send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org stating:
You will receive a confirmation and an invoice. When I receive the money or a proof of the transaction your registration will be effective.
